TextScript Component

Satori Canton’s TextScript source code is good, but when we used it in the production of a few movies for some banner ad’s on Lincoln’s site we had some problems with how the animated text was being built, so I rewrote it but kept the animation libraries to include.

Thanks John Round for pushing for this to get out for months.

The parameters are self-explanatory if a little cryptic. This component works with both Flash 8 and Flash 9, but not with Flash 7 sadly (some of the effects use the blurring filters etc only available in Flash 8).

You can download the files here.

A quick update, http://www.txeff.com/ has developed a very comprehensive texteffect component but it’s $99 (not free like this one). If you need ultimate tweakability, you should take a look at it. If your requirements are more prosaic, you can download mine and see if it does the trick for you. Also, txeff’s component is AS3 only, whereas this one is AS2.

About Bela Korcsog

Proud father of two children, happy husband to one wife. I've been programming various technologies and leading the development of huge projects for most of the last ten years. I've got some specific likes and dislikes through my experiences in the web site business but generally I'm pretty straightforward about it. Not a huge fan of the latest and greatest shiny toy (it took me four years to show an interest in Flash) I'm more than happy to code in any language that comes along (Actionscript is just so darn fun).
